I've got weird but stupid friends. 2/05/2005 01:28:00 AM Tuesday, February 01, 2005 0 comments Post a Comment Tomorrow (strictly speaking, today) marks the first day of my first slot of my last onsite duty (the one with off days staggering duties). I feel slightly nervous cos i've not been there for sometime and e thot of starting generators with a weak knee as support intimidates me , and on top of that, (i know it sounds rather 'murphy' but) i do believe that last duties are somehow memorable in an unwelcomed fashion. So i will be back on friday. hopefully unscathed. *shudders as he remembers "viktor's incident" where lightning struck a nearby equipment and it went up in flames* ~ today is a happy and fat day. Its happy mainly due to the fact that i managed to shake off 4/5 of my workday with physiotherapy at NUH. Physio was pretty okay. Did some leg presses , leg curls and some exercise involving ankle weights. It disturbs me that neither the consultant , stand-in consultant nor the physiotherapist are sure what is wrong with my knee. And i might be discharged from physio after 2 weeks if they do not see anything wrong with it. They are unable to associate the pains felt to any specific source. So my physiotherapist gave me 3 probable situations which were in medical terms ie incomprehensible. Physio is quite taxing. I very quickly realised when he asked me do 15 min on the fixed bicycle with quite a resistance. But its happy and fat (especially fat) cos of Mr. Haagen Daaz. *wide smile* Wellll.. Kangwei (my FRIEND *emphasis* in camp *sniggers*) happened to have two really rocking vouchers : Buy any 2 Haagen Daaz Creations and get 1 more absolutely free! Buy 2 Pints of Haagen Daaz Ice Cream (with 1 flavour being Mango ) for $19 And the most TORMENTING thing was that the haagen daaz vouchers expired TODAY. Oh. No. *in mock helplessness* What Were We to Do ? *knitted brows and exasperated expression* BUT get Dennis along to Haagen Daaz at Holland V for a FEAST!!! hahahahah. Rocking! It was an 'expedition' motivated ENTIRELY by the presence of two expiring vouchers. And of course DEFINITELY driven by the label itself. So after a great hassle of waiting for me to return my Fortune God status ie costume to my boss and get down to bp plaza, we managed to climb on a bus only at 8.35 or so. After a cookhouse dinner which i will not waste time condemning. So we happily marched to HD cafe and got a seat, settled our orders real quick (cos no fondue was available : the ice cream was too soft to be dipped into the melted choc ; and the mango sherbet sucks ) on 2 Cool Oasis : A splendid combination of Tiramisu, Cookies and Cream and Strawberry Cheesecake conjured into a delightfully sweet and fruitily refreshing sundae with the aid of toppings like kiwi and raspberry sauce, choc rice and choc bits , whipped cream and caramel. 1 Nuts About You : A simple triple scoop of an all time favourite, Macadamia Brittle (less sweet for some reason) with assorted chopped nuts which complemented the ice cream so well , it was to die for. Dennis, who i can proudly say i introduced HD to by treating him to tub of Rum and Raisin (which was shared among many campmates in e end)(24 years old and a Haagen Daaz Virgin?!?! PREPOSTEROUS! I SHALL NOT CONDONE SUCH BEHAVIOUR !) *suddenly receives Chris and Huili's smses , claiming that they've never even HEARD of haagen daaz in their entire lives*, i repeat, Dennis was having an ICO (Ice Cream Orgasm). In fact all of us were. We slapped ourselves on our seat backs upon eating our first scoop, faces frozen in eternal bliss and eyes brimming with creamy sugary tears. I swear i saw dennis and kangwei float a little. Thank god i am heavier than them both. No ice cream comes even CLOSE to haagen daaz. Its absolutely scrumptious. Its made for angels. Angels who don't need their wings. (cos they're gonna get so freaking fat they can't flap their way to heaven anyway) Oh and the taste simply LINGERS. Even after 3 hours. I was so tempted to get another sundae or another scoop. (er. i do have another tub of Mango in my fridge LA. :P ) I'm fat. this is terrible. Diet and Haagen Daaz are like fire and water. Enemies from birth. The creator of HD must either be this 200 ton living blob that masquerades as Takashimaya in the day and comes alive at night and slips of to Cream Boulevard and starts churning out gallons of all 13 (is it 13?) wonderful, divine icecream flavours OR a 21-inch waist babe that has the metabolism of 19 cheetahs and 22 marathon runners dat doesn't put on weight even if she swallows lydia sum. But i'm happy! I'll MUCH rather abstain from low-lying pathetic fast food ($7 meals! sick. ) and have a scoop of HD since i have to suffer the calories in e end. Death by Haagen Daaz must be the ultimate way to die. For the nxt few days onsite, i'm gonna try starving myself to try to shrink my stomach.(according to my uncle, it works this way) Then stuff myself with food when i get out of duty. hurray! Oh and i just met jj and jb on sunday for a tiong bahru market escapade. The menu : 20 Ju Gueis shared among us three 3 bowls of porridge shared among us three 2 plates of chicken rice shared among them two 2 bowls of cheng teng shared among boon and me U realise boon ate every single dish mentioned! *gasps* Shit. *remembers the oil on the ju guey paper and shudders* " You are my Haagen, My only Haagen, You make me happy when skies are grey. " (even stormy or blue or shooting balls of fire and ice) Fat food and money have just joined water, shelter and air as the BARE NECESSITIES of life. Oh n not forgetting music and books for the spirit too. I lead such a simple life.
