did something crazy again. :)
i cycled to Orchard from home! and back!
haha.
i was feeling a bit full yesterday, thot i'll do away w dinner. then i was deciding which to do, cycle or jog. The weather looked a bit crappy plus i left all my shorts in camp, so i decided to cycle around. haha. I jus thot i'll cycle AROUND when I took e on-e-road route which is pretty dangerous but very smooth. It was jus impossible to do short distances around Panjang when u're whizzing ard, unstoppable. So i thought, " Maybe school? " Then i headed for school.
Ah.. then Aaron called me up to tell me he saw Ho Yao Shun at Paragon. Which is rather irrelevant. But the fact dat aaron was ard in town sorta gave me enough jolt to decide to go down to Orchard Road. (not Ho. Pls. )
So i jus went on, cycling thru a rather deserted HCJC and actually on the terraces of Chinese High. It felt so good. Laying my wheels on all the 'ghost' roads of the past. Felt like i was taking a ride down memory lane quite literally.
Once i stepped into town, it was a pretty darned cool feeling. I felt so full of life. With all the zombies around me jus walking , they, controlled and obstructed by traffic lights and traffic and human traffic. I , on the other hand, am free, depending on a pair of really sore thighs and really squeaky gears and wheels. I could go anywhere on that. Anywhere. There I got e best view of the Christmas lights that seemed so different once u were neither on a car nor on ur foot.
Rode down to meet aaron who was jus hilarious wif his usual sao bao remarks. Haha, he was waiting for his bus. Then i thought that i should get something fm Orchard to make this trip seem more worthwhile practically. Like ya know, a "souvenir" . So i decided to get a Peanut butter cup Blizzard from Orange Julius. Haha. I am a pig.
There i was, slapped onto a plastic chair outside e Orange Julius near Wheelock, legs stretched and head thrown back, with the Blizzard cup on mi left hand and a mini spoon on mi right. My bike by my side. I am young. I am alive, i thought. Impulsive and reckless. And as the it hit 2130, i had to hit e roads back home so i could book in by midnight. There. Another crazy thing.

(281203)
it's been 2 weeks since i last blogged.
was busy meeting e overseas frens that came back, watching movies and mahjonging.
meiling's going back tomorrow. crap.
but i think i'm one of e lucky ones to get to see her quite alot. even tho sometimes it was with other frens or jus looking at her mug ( terribly exciting :P ). but sometimes even without meeting her and knowing her presence is near by, like in town , it's all very assuring. same applies for adele and lauren but more so for meiling cos she was onli back for 2 weeks.
LOTR rox. i loved e 3rd instalment most. dunno y. many of mi frens like TTT better. weird. i was honestly very overwhelmed, goosebumps and all , by the war scenes. and also moved by e bond between Merri and Pippin. I watched it twice. HAH. beat that! within like 5 days of screening. e ending was a bit draggy, but still its a great movie. till now, only LOTR and The Hours deserve a place in my VCD collection. (not DVD, i'm poor) but i haven't bought LOTR yet.
i saved up last month and got 3 CDS.
Joni Mitchell's " Hissing of Summer Lawns "
Tori Amos compilation " Tales of a Librarian "
Wu Yue Tian's " Shi Guang Ji "
got them for like a good 2 weeks liao but i haven't even gotten down to listening Wu Yue Tian yet. cos Tori and Joni are jus fantastic. Bought Joni's cos of "Both Sides Now" from Love Actually OST. U guys have gotta download e song. Be a pirate for this song. It's .... charming.
She's got a really thick voice, sorta like Barbara Streisand. A bit blues, jazz, black and alternative. Her songs are realli weird. And her lyrics are even weirder. Dun know what they mean. Haha. and she's 70 already. She's been around forever like Dionne Warwick (??), David Bowie etc.
Tori Amos is just *mmmf*. You've gotta hear her. I still have problems deciding who i prefer. Tori or Joni. And such similar names too! I think eventually it's gonna be Tori. Her music is more than jus correct notes on a score or some melodic combination of instruments. It's a Feeling, an Exclamation , a Scream or even a Behaviour. It's a work of a genius. U would hear her and wonder who on earth could write and perform sth so twisted and yet so beautiful. Like a witch, she is. Her voice resembles high icy winds on mountains. Sometimes she whispers in ur ear , tickling you , teasing you. Sometimes she's screaming at you, cursing you with e foulest words. And that's jus her music. If only i could understand her lyrics. But i think they do add to her a mysterious feel. She's been comfortably sitting in my MD for 2 weeks. And i do not foresee her going off soon.
