Read this article.
A woman lost her baby daughter when she was only 10 days old , in a fire.
Four years later, she meets a girl at her friend's party and recognises the girl as her daughter.
Turned out that her friend planned e arson to abduct the baby.
The woman does a DNA check and gets her daughter back.

Ok. Do u see it?
How in the world did she recognise her daughter?!?!?!
I mean, she claimed that the dimples helped. But dimples aren't like a third eye, almost 2 out 10 ppl have them.

I am amazed and approached my mom.
She was VISIBLY amazed too. Then she decided to say :
" Aiyah, this is the power of the mom-and-son bond. "

And i said :
" YEAH RIGHT MOM. "

*we both chuckle*

Mood's better already.
Think getting out of the house was quite e remedy.
Needed desperately to be alone.

Watched Mystic myself. NOT impressive. Honestly. I would watch In America ANYDAY and Nicholas Nickleby or LOTR EVERYDAY. haha. Ok it wasn't that bad. But it was well overrated.
Firstly i'm not a fan of suspense, mystery or crime-busting.
Secondly, it was slow moving and the way they did e scene transitions got on my nerves. It either gave u e feeling that e scene was LONG over or e scene was not even over. Bad timing. And they basically used e "black screen" effect to interval each scene which made e film feel reeealllly loooong.
Thirdly, ok, i must admit Sean Penn was good. But not Oscar deserving. Not like I would know what the Oscar standards are but i think Jude Law did better. Cos Sean's role's pretty typical? U get alot of that from HK mafia films. But he is a very charming man for his age. Liked e costar better. The guy who acted as Sean? I think it's Kevin Bacon. *checks*
Yep it is Kevin Bacon (thanx to Zhengyong's movie page -> i am NOT going to help u publicise, at least not on my blog. :P )
In fact, Kevin really helped me get through the show thinking e show was still worth $6.50. He has a look. Like you'll never get to know what he's thinking? That's zhengyi cool.

Ok, e twist redeemed the entire movie for a moment. Really. Towards the end, i was just waiting. until they introduced e possibility of some other ending. I was impressed at that point. But underdeveloped, too much "telling" and little "showing" and ultimately, an ending that had me dissatisfied. "HUH?" Didn't know why. Dun wanna know why too.

It's a 3/5 man. I feel a bit sorry. Either for it or myself, i dunno. But overall, liked watching e movie alone. comfy.

Went to the bank. (man, don't i sound like a grownup already???? *eager kiddy look* )

Then went for my 2nd attempt at BTT. DUN ASK WHY. DUN HURRY TO LAUGH. DUN .
Think i'll get it over and done with this time round. I had better.

Then went to get a haircut.

Then got back home and i'm STILL waiting for my dad for dinner. But i'm in a good mood. That's all that matters!

Grandpa's having a mild relapse of his mild condition of Parkinsons, which is enough for anyone. He's legs wobble so much he can hardly stand. Went to visit him before e movie. And slept sitting down beside him on the sofa. That feels good. Sleeping beside granddad. *happy smile* I love my old old man.

Creators of viruses and their accomplices should be HUNG. Yes. Hung. I think besides homicide and drug trafficking, virus related crimes, if major enough, should deserve the noose or if i had a say, rape then electrocution then skinning then whipped then knocked down by 10 cars then burnt to death ( by acid preferably ).

Really. I can never think why some people can be so F-ing inconsiderate and be such BASTARDS, to want to spend hours from their lives (altho their lives are lived as sonofabitch losers) to create something that causes such widespread INCONVENIENCE, ANGUISH and IRRITATION. GET A LIFE, U BLOODY NINCOMPOOPS.

I curse : May your BODY be infected with an IDENTICAL virus that will make you HANG 10000000 times a day, cause your printer software to malfunction, that will FORCE you to transfer gigabytes of data to your laptop and then find out that your laptop is infected AS WELL. YES. Ur body. I dunno how that can happen but YES. YOUR BODY.

Ok seriously, *shuts eyes tightly, clasps hands and prays* (earnestly and softly, articulating every word diligently) :

May all these freaking bastards get knocked down by a car and be in a wheelchair for life where their fingers that type and palm that slides the mouse are so badly torn that they would not even allow them to cover their mouths with them without inflicting on them a pain that would bring tears of blood to their eyes (which happen to be knocked inside out in the same accident).

Whew. Now that felt good.

I wanna record sooon. Itching. But nose is still stuffy and i have a perpetual cough. :(

First blow :
The revision of the Chinese Syllabus. Simplification to aid the weaker ones. "students who have extreme difficulties ... due to prolonged stays in overseas country or.... " yeah yeah, as long as e definition is flexible, a student's 7 day trip in Perth could be long enough a stay.

Second blow:
The introduction of English in Chinese Lessons proper. For ANOTHER 7 Primary Schools (my HPPS included). An aid (which i CONDEMN ) for the English-speaking children till primary two. A compromise. A freaking compromise, that's what it is.

Third blow :
The removal of Chinese 'AO' as a criteria for University Entrance. Okay. That does it.

Hello. I know i have some friends out there who are practically DISABLED in chinese but i'm sorry. i dun care.
This is terrible. We are Chinese. We ARE. Really. Like the black eyes and brows and hair isn't telling enough. Yes, that's why e yellow skin. Ok, dun give me crap about Singapore being different. It's all a COMPROMISE. I mean , yes i am typing this blog in English but hello, i still CAN speak Mandarin ( and i do too , for those who remember ). I dun see why we are doing all these reduction, simplification, compromise of our Chinese syllabus. And introducing English as a tool. Hah. Yay. So what now, a language to teach another language. What's next? Textbooks in ENGLISH maybe? Or have English teachers double as Chinese teachers? HONESTLY. I know it doesn't appear a HUGE matter NOW. But once u start to give in, u have surrendered. They'll ask for an extension of the aid. Prob till Pri 4 next? Then wat's after?
I actually saw what went on in the classroom from a news clip :

Ahem e.g.

Teacher :
"Dad went to the shop to buy some things.
How do you say that in Mandarin?
" Ba ba dao dian li mai dong xi " ....."

Oh man.
So wait. I dun't understand. I am TRULY confused. Are we teaching translation here? WHAT ON EARTH.
I do agree the students are much more spontaneous and interested in the language but fundamentally, it's a horrendously flawed method of education. And these Chinese teachers are not helping out by exploiting the convenience of using an English aid (i KNOW its hard to teach Chinese but ..).

Chinese took ages to develop to what it is now. It has a history, an extremely glorious one, which will not stand any smaller beside the history of our other first language.

And now, we have shamed ourselves. To border our language by another. To teach our young the basics of our MOTHER tongue with the AID of English. What are we saying? Are we even comparable to Westerners who pick up Chinese out of their own will? (and YES, with the AID of ENGLISH too - THEIR mother tongue )

And regarding the Uni entrance matter, dear high-ranking official or renowned dean or whoever, dun give me that bull about " We will eventually consider the Chinese linguistic abilities of the students so students should not think that they can neglect their Chi.. blardishitgobblegobbleblablapretentiousshitkickninnyass" CRAP. You want them to NOT neglect Chi , u JOLLY WELL include Chi in your entrance criteria ALRIGHT? Stop pretending most of our students aren't Chinese-hating /resisting to start with. Wake up, major stupid shits.

Help. Help define our Chinese identity. I do not even ask u to revive the long dormant pride of Chinese in you. Nor do I ask you to embrace the language or the history. Just give our race the respect it deserves. I appeal to you.

But all these will not get me down, for I can see what these will lead to, as the contradiction between what the ministry aims to achieve and in reality, practises, worsens ; as the dilemma of mixed identities and multiculture ,which tirelessly haunts our country, aggravates, it shall only profit me as they start to aggrandize the value and importance of Chinese teachers. They will need us more than ever as long as they do not bring themselves either to DO something about this OR give up. And if I do not have a Chinese identity i can be proud of, at least i will still have the materialistic benefits that this major identity crisis shall bring with it.

*bitter laugh*

i have this overpowering urge to pack up my bag and runaway from home.
No, nothing's happened at home.
But suddenly everything is just stifling.
I wanna go out but i don't want to go out with anyone nor alone.
I want to sleep somewhere else. Not at home preferably and otherwise, definitely not on that mattress in my brother's room.
I'm sick of having no room to myself.
I want to run away.

i'm back fm Tekong!! (think it's my last duty there. :( . after this, i should be relocated to a nearer site. hope it's better. )

***

i'll give up half my lifespan to spend that half looking at how my loved ones grief for me, how each of them deal with the loss, getting over it then having a place always for me in their minds and memories, to see how even a thought of me could bring a smile to their lips or a tear to their eyes, then wave them goodbye and be at rest.
It's like watching a REALLY good tear-jerker and this time be assured that tears WILL be jerked.
No.
I mean it.
I've always wanted to see how people react when i die.
Its the worth of everyone isn't it? The value of your entire life defined by how much you will be missed when you are gone.
This was not meant to be morbid. It's a happy post. :)

Reading this chinese book called " Yao Shun Chun Qiu - China's Tale of 5000 Years " (Loosely and partially translated)
Yao Shun is not YAO SHAN. *grumble*
It's two emperors after Yan and Huang. The 3rd and 4th emperors of China.
It's a collection of the more significant and interesting facts OR myths that took place between the time where "Pan Gu Opened the Heavens" (e beginning of everything, folklore) till Yin,Zhou Dynasty.

I can see blurred eyes and furrowed brows. Ok i know it sounds terribly difficult and tedious AND boring.
My first impression of it too.
But i figured i can't go studying in China without knowing some hard, solid facts beside a few miserly Tang poems and some Three Kingdom heroes.

But it got a bit interesting when i found out Nuwa had incest with her brother! haha. They were forced to! So the world would not end, cos they were e last two humans in e world and Tai Bai Jing Xing asked them to copulate. Hee.

Then other stuff include how gross Chinese were then, there were men eating children (100% true facts) and sons (mostly princes) raping their stepmothers. And lotsa war (a bit boring) and lotsa politics (a bit huh).

And u could see how weird Chinese moral standards were to begin with. They actually sang praise of this hero by the name of Wu Zixu who , with aid of his comrades, raped the concubines , wives of officials , to take revenge on this tyrannical king of Chu who killed ONLY his brother and dad. (he also dug out the tyrant's body and whipped it 300 times. man. vicious. )

But i still can't tell what's up with the HUNDREDS of country names like Chu la, Zhou la, Lu la , Zheng la.

EEEEEEEEEPs. i bought my 7th volume of sandman (about $210 spent now... *feels faint*) but cos i was in a bit of a hurry, i got e wrong cover. As in a different edition. CRAP. but i can't exchange now cos i couldn't resist and opened it. so it's non-exchangeable. But oh man. Great episode. Think it's alright since i'm not a collector.

***

BO SI MAO rocks!! haha.
Junjie and I sang it 4 times in the ktv. mwahahaha.
It's a hilarious song. Bo Si Mo, Mi zhe ta de shuang yen ...

Wo De Cuo by B.A.D. is good too. Did it 4 times too.

We sang for 6 HOURS. NON-STOP. i think we did all the songs we wanted to. including some really shu2 oldies like Wang Jie and Ye Huan's " Ni Shi Wo Xiong Kou Yong Yuan De Tong " and Andy Hui's " Xiang Shuo " and even Zhang Qing Fang's " Ju Qi Bu Ding ". MAnIA.

I'm not sick but having a perpetually stuffy left nostril. :(
Tekong was hell dusty. Kept coughing. But i like my vit C tablets. Yum.

***

I'm on a healthier diet ! ( not a no-eat diet )
jus NO MORE:
1) potato chips
2) solid chocolate (haha i said "solid" . :P )
3) nuts
4) DEEP fried stuff
5) sweets

but i'm still ok with icecream, yogurt and popcorn jus less of each. actually i hardly touch e stuff mentioned above in my list.
Convenient diet, i don't believe in extreme diets cos they eventually wear u out and spread u thin. and THEN e glutton returns.

MORE SOUPY!
NO SPICY!

My slogan for this diet.
