I received this sms from my Aunt Jean two days ago, while i was watching (idly) my Meteor Garden VCD i borrowed from adele . all this during my office duty at my site.
It totally screwed me in and freaked me out :
" It is critical that mel (my cousin Melanie,4 ) pulls through the next few hours. "
If not for the severity of the situation, Aunts should be BANNED , in fact Uncles and Everyone , should be BANNED (i repeat) from dropping bombshells like these on me. At least building up the tension level systematically by sending a " Zy, i have bad news for you. It's bout melanie " or providing more details like WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO HER is better than giving me the "Drama Treatment".
Ok, from how i sound, u guys probably guessed that nothing irrevocably bad has happened to my cousin. And yes, i am extremely relieved. But as her life is still in danger for the next few days, I am taking a big emotional gamble to write a blog entry about anything concerning it, because i will look back and hate myself for writing a blog (which somehow assumes that nth is or will be going very wrong) about the situation if anything woodtouching(NEW WORD) happens.
She contracted a form of pneumonia which is said to be the deadliest of its kind. Her life was in imminent and real danger on wednesday where she was relying 90% on Oxygen support and her heartbeat/rate was going up to 224 (norm : 135 for kids). She's in CPU now, condition stabilised.
I jus saw her today and it breaks my heart to just see our little fair princess (we call her dat) with tubes all over and inside her. But even a broken heart is better than the frustration and helplessness i was experiencing when i was stuck at my stupid site duty , fearing a phonecall bearing ill news ,24 hrs a day and not being able to know how she's doing first-hand. It was so unbearable i even sms-ed meiling , not once but twice , to jus tell her how bad it felt. (It doesn't matter if u din reply ml, cos i jus needed to let it out.)
Well but now the family's praying hard.(and having fun camping outside the ICU too. its ridiculous: my Uncle Paul (36 with 1 kid Keanne,2)put on the face masks provided and played doctor in front of my mum and aunts, e ladies having tea flasks, mooncakes and even red wine tonight. My maternal family has family parties anytime, anywhere. it should be disgusting but its hilarious.)

David Yeo : haha. it was a funny performance. E knee banging , e frozen look of surprise and his classic Chekshire cat toothy smile. But i liked his hair. hmm.
Taufik : I think e judges are very very very encouraging towards him. i got a feeling they are sort of intimidated by e audience? cos like 30% of them are him? he's NORMAL. boyband voice. i'm not saying boyband voice is NOGOOD but it isn't GOOD ENOUGH.
Leandra : i jus heard fm mi bro she's e daughter of " The Drifters " who sang " Under the Broadwalk ". wow. GENE POWER. She's good. She's so good, she can tuck her hands into her pockets and do any genre and sound good. And Jerry ong can jus kiss the ass of her C notes and go roll ard.
Sly : MY SLY! haha. my no.1 choice. While the rest of e idols were busying themselves clowning around in outdated and e cheesiest moves i've ever seen, he was jus being cucumber cool (NEW TERM) with his urg-ish new gold hair (wah super beng) and superpower voice. Its e 1st time i am realli impressed with his vocal power. Simply good. Who says rock and roll requires you to make love with the mike stand? *throws a dirty look at jerry ong*

But even if i wasn't , yesterday's performance would set me in the same direction anyway.

Maia and Olinda : oh no they're so unexciting i threw their descriptions together. well. i jus said it. Unexciting. But Maia should jus throw in a little more flesh (like she hasn't been doing dat already) to beat Jerry. It's worth it. Go Maia. And this girl's silly. i quote 8 days : it goes sth like "My pregnancy was planned. So people who dun know anything bout it, jus shut up " Maia maia. REEEALLY. I'm totally cool with single moms but hello, "planned"? She must think she can do alot at 18.
Daphne : She's somewhere below Sly and Leandra and somewhere above David and Olinda. Daphne treatment is getting more and more attractive. I'm always looking forward to how she manages to inject her style into songs without making them something entirely unfamiliar and unacceptable. But there comes the problem of a very restricting voice type. Its too cute to do anything sad. Or wham-bam. She jus keeps daphning all the songs. And we begin to see Daphne as a sub-genre more than a voice type. But i think she has a very strong musical sense. And she's realli cute. So well, she's no.3 on mi list.

His rock and roll performance left me cringing. I felt so embarrassed for him. And the judges cut him up. Which left me happy but still embarrassed for him. But well he's rich. He can go onstage and jus pass gas and STILL GET IN. If it wasn't fer Jerry Ong. I would have hated him instead.
Oh wait. i jus realised. the results are usually rigged right? yes. No Jerry. Rocks. I can save up on a few dollars too. COME ON SLY!

Sad movies are always moving because people in sad scenes are always ONLY sad. They aren't "while thinking if they closed e windows at home in case it rains" kind of sad ; they aren't women mourning over dead husbands thinking whether she will ever be humped again in her life ; they aren't sad and also relieved that their cancer-stricken child passed away so they didn't have enough money in their medisave?
We avoid complications. We fear them. They make us fickle.But they are always around and we should never deny them.
